Breathing is simply a superpower when done correctly with intention. It’s a way to “hack” several systems of our body and begin to rewire ourselves for health, vitality, positivity and confidence. 

Over half of the body’s ability to detoxify comes from respiration. Practicing breathwork is an immediate biological upgrade the the body. It puts the body under deliberate stress which releases feel good chemicals, many of which are found in the medications prescribed for mental health. Your body also undergoes a process called autophagy where dead and diseased cells are flushed from the body. And that’s just the physical side.

It is also a tool that helps regulate nervous system function, influences brain activity, can decrease stress levels, chemicals, hormones and helps us cut through the chatter of the mind. 

By using a combination of different rhythmic breathing patterns we begin to bring the brain and body into a hypnotic and meditative state. The analytical brain (prefrontal cortex) becomes more quiet and the intuitive part of the brain (the limbic system) become very active. This part of our brain is where emotions, memories and arousals are stored and are generated.
