John Quirk

Lead Pickleball Coach & Retreat Director

John is a certified pickleball coach with over 15 years of experience teaching players from beginners to advanced competitors. His strategic approach to the game has helped hundreds of players break through plateaus and achieve tournament success.

Over the past 5 years, John has led 12 wellness retreats in Bali, bringing more than 200 participants to experience the transformative power of combining athletic training with mindful recovery practices.

His coaching philosophy centers on sustainable performance—teaching players not just how to play better, but how to stay injury-free and enjoy the game for decades to come.

Tim Ringgold

Tim Ringgold is a PPR Certified Teaching Instructor and the founder of Pickleball Recovery, a podcast that helps the 40+ pickler spend less time stiff, sore, and injured, and more time on the court doing what they love.

Tim has amassed over 40 medals since starting his pickleball tournament journey in 2021 from 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and Sr Pro in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. At 48, Tim discovered pickleball when his neighbor showed him all ten shots in his first lesson.

The following day, Tim played with local legend ‘Jack’ who, at the age of 92, showed Tim that his best athletic years are still ahead. Tim has been sponsored by Gearbox since 2022 and loves that they make a durable high quality paddle in a disposable industry.

John's wellness retreats are amazing. I've been on the digital detox retreat and most recently on the Bali retreat. Nothing is too difficult on a retreat, unless you can't go without coffee for a few days. The breath work is amazing!! John is a great facilitator, wether it's breath work, yoga, meditation, or even the cold plunge (my least fav, although I always get through it somehow). The breath work is my favorite by far. So amazing. The people are always great as well as John is great at getting people to bond and work together. The food is always awesome too!! If you want to rejuvenate, reset, take some time for yourself, or just try new and fun things, sign up!!

I had a wonderful time at the cactus blossom yoga retreat. I was particularly impressed by the Breathwork program – it was intensive, profound, and yet safely guided, allowing me to fully open up. The food, freshly cooked by Chef Perla was excellent: varied, delicious, and perfectly tailored to the needs of the retreat participants. The lovely people I met there were particularly valuable – inspiring, friendly, and I can say I found true friends.. Also Johns two lovely dogs made the atmosphere even more cozy and welcoming. John himself was a fantastic teacher: competent, empathetic, and motivating. His calm manner helped me gain new perspectives and further develop my yoga. Overall, a thoroughly successful experience that I can warmly recommend to everyone.

I learned a lot about myself during breath work and meditation. I challenged myself with yoga and the cold plunge.   • There will be 12 participants, however if we have more people who want to come we may open a few more spots and invite another coach to join us.

  • This retreat is for 3.0 and 4.0 players. If you’re unsure whether you’re a good fit you can book a call with us or take the assessment here.

  • Inside of 60 days there’s no refund, if we can resell your spot you can reserve a different space in another retreat with your payment.

  • We try to keep room mates same-sex but don't guarantee it, we arrange roommate choices for you and are often happily surprised at the connections that are made this way.


  • Partner yes, kids no. If you feel you can have a shared collective experience with you partner, and still get a lot out of it individually, then go for it. If you’re unsure, please book a call with me.

  • We don’t provide transportation but we help connect you with other attendees for ride-sharing.

  • Yes, no problem. Meals are already gluten free and make it easy for vegetarians, if you have an allergy or restriction, please let us know ahead of time.
